MEET THE STAFF OF THE ADULT DAY PROGRAM
AT THE NORMA AND ROBERT GINDES CENTER

MEET MEG:

I am honored to be the Adult Day Director at The Gindes Center, where I am passionate about creating a supportive and enriching environment for all participants.

With extensive experience in hospice care, medical social work, and many years of facilitating caregiver support groups, I bring a deep commitment to serving others. I earned my BSW and MSW from the University of Central Florida in Orlando.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my family, participating in book club, and exploring the beauty of North Carolina.

MEET RACHEL:

I’m a MSW and have a decade of experience working as an in-home caregiver for older adults. I have always valued my relationship with my grandparents and older adults in my life since I was a kid.

My favorite part of working with our participants is getting to know them one-on-one and being able to tailor our daily routine to their needs. It’s a joy to see them enjoying themselves!

Being a part of the sandwich generation has given me tremendous insight into the experiences of the care partners of our participants. I’ve loved the opportunity to facilitate the Care Partner Support Group which has given me an opportunity to spend more time with care partners within and outside of our community.

When I’m not at work, I love spending time with my son and my parents that live close by. I also enjoy watching women’s basketball, knitting, crocheting, sewing, and playing board games with friends.

MEET CAILSEN:

I graduated from NC State with a degree in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management, complemented by a minor in Environmental Education. During my postgraduate internship at Victory Junction, I had the incredible opportunity to adapt adventure programming for children with chronic illnesses and mobility impairments. This transformative experience fueled my passion for planning inclusive, adaptive recreational activities that celebrate the unique abilities and interests of every participant.

With four years of experience as an in-home caregiver for older adults, including those with vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s, I grew my passion for creating genuine  connections with people and creating meaningful experiences tailored to their needs. I’m thrilled about the chance to develop a dynamic program that not only meets each participant’s unique needs, but also cultivates a warm, engaging environment where they can thrive. Getting to know each person, discovering what makes them light up, and introducing them to new ways to enjoy life are the highlights of what I do!

Outside of work, I’m an adventurer at heart, always seeking out new places to explore with my husband. My favorite hobbies are reading, playing games, thrifting, or exploring creative pursuits like crocheting, sewing, collage art, and photography.

MEET ASHLEY:

I’m a former educator and have been a stay-at-home parent for the last five years with my two young children. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with the ADC team to arrange activities for Gindes Center participants and to contribute to the Jewish For Good community, which is a second home for my family.

I’ve spent nearly a decade in the classroom in a range of subjects and grade levels, including AP Literature and Composition for high school seniors and my most recent role as the Gifted and Talented Specialist at a French immersion elementary school in Ohio.

I hope to apply my experience designing and implementing differentiated instruction, curriculum enrichment, and advanced learning opportunities to planning meaningful programming for our participants at the Gindes Center.

My favorite parts of being at the Gindes Center are connecting with our participants and creating opportunities for intergenerational activities with students at the Lerner school next door.

When not at work, I love spending time with family and friends, playing chess, reading, baking, and running.
